“(7) But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. (8) We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; (9) persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; (10) always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.” (2 Corinthians 4:7-10)
What is the most valuable item you own? Your car, a house, a wrist watch. I saw where an NFL football player had a watch that cost him $25,000. Wow! Everyone places value on things they have or the people they love. The Apostle Paul paints a picture for us how as believers in Jesus we have a “treasure”, which is described as the light of the Gospel, that spreads hope and direction to all who will believe. The gospel shines even in persecution, we can be struck down, but the impact of the gospel cannot be destroyed. It is by Jesus’ death we can live, and in our life, we should carry the marks of His death, which is sacrifice and love for all who need Him.
